Allenwest Wallacetown exhibited at the Ugol Rossii & Mining from June 1st to the 5th as part of the ABMEC (Association of British Mining Equipment Companies) UK group.
This was the 17th International Trade Fair for Mining technology held in Novokuznetsk in West Siberia.
The city is located in the Kuzbass Basin which is rich in natural resources, making the area one of the most important industrial centres for iron and steel smelting, chemicals, as well as the aluminium and coke production in Russia.
This is an important exhibition in the international calendar and the increasing numbers of exhibitors and visitors attending the exhibition this year was proof of that. The event was extremely well attended by the Russian customer base making it a particularly busy show. Companies such as Suek, Raspadskya, Evrazholdings, Yuzhey Kusbass and Belon were among some of those who visited the ABMEC pavilion.
The Russian Energy Strategy released in November 2009 focuses on innovation and output. It projects a 160% rise in coal exports from 2008 to 2020 and it forecasts an almost three-fold increase in the domestic use for coal in electricity generation. The major obstacles impeding these targets (and of particular significance to foreign companies) is seen in the lack of technically advanced equipment and provision of significant safety measures. In order to increase the production to the anticipated levels, equipment which meets high performance and high levels of reliability must also include some of the world’s most up-to-date safety systems.
In its progressive development, the Russian coal mining industry recognises the quality of UK safety systems, UK safety methods and the exemplary safety record set by the UK coal mining industry over the last 30 years.
Safety continues to dominate the Russian market focus and is an essential element in achieving its production targets.
Allenwest Wallacetown used contacts and friendships new and renewed to continue to build up our business in this expanding market for the mining industry.
